Al Jabr is one of the Asmaul Husna names. It is extracted from the root words of Jim, Ba, Ra, containing the meanings of Greatness, Courage, Highness, and Istiqomah.

In a foreign language, it’s known as ALGEBRA – a branch of Mathematics, in which letters and symbols are used to represent quantities.

Initial Service to Community

The mosque was built in 1994, initiated by Mr. Mohamad Riza Chalid, and aided by the surrounding community’s support under the name of Al Murood. The mosque is mainly aimed as the media for the surrounding community to conduct Islamic worship and religious activities.

In 2006 the name of the mosque was changed to Al Jabr after the name of its Holding Foundation. Chaired by H. Mohamad Riza Chalid, and the Leader in Charge at that time Mr. H. Mochtar.

Taman Pendidikan Al Quran (TPA)

To emphasize the mission of "Education for all", there were different educational activities conducted on the 2nd level of the Mosque. The lessons were started from 2 PM to 4 PM learning about Al Qur’an plus ‘sempoa’, English and Arabic languages.

The Orphanage

In May 2004, Al Jabr Orphanage was established by the initiation of Mrs. Uchu Riza patronized by Mr. Mohamad Riza Chalid, located on the 2nd floor of the Al Jabr Center building. The purpose of establishing the house is to provide a proper and enjoyable place to stay and to educate the orphans therefore they would have a brighter prospect to support their families and communities in the future. Besides schooling, the children also learn sports, language, and arts extracurricular activities.

At the beginning of the establishment, the Al Jabr Orphanage served 14 orphans who had been taken as foster children from West Java and Jakarta. Then the service continued by nurturing orphans outside the orphanage who are still staying with their mothers.

Playgroup and Kindergarten

In June 2004, Al Jabr Playgroup and Kindergarten was established by the initiation of Mrs. Uchu Riza and patronized by Mr. Mohamad Riza Chalid. They are located on the 1st floor of Al Jabr Center building. During the first year of 2004 – 2005 the Al Jabr Playgroup and Kindergarten served 24 students and continued to the second year of 2005-2006 with an increasing number of students to 73.

Mrs. Uchu Riza herself was acting as Head Mistress of the school. With a major purpose of providing National Plus bilingual education institutions with international facilities, the Al Jabr Playgroup and Kindergarten became an interesting choice for the citizens of South Jakarta. Moreover, the school is a “non-profit oriented” institution whereas its existence is to subsidize the life of Al Jabr Orphanage.
