The IB Learner Profiles

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) learner profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. The IB learner profile is the IB mission statement translated into a set of learning outcomes and express the values inherent to the IB continuum of international education, the culture and ethos of all IB World Schools.

As an overarching concept of how to develop international-mindedness, we connect the profiles to Quran values where discuss how these traits are embodied at all aspect of school life as a Muslim. Everyone strives to be:

Inquirers They develop their natural curiosity. They acquire the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independence in learning. They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives. Knowledgeable They explore concepts, ideas and issues that have local and global significance. In so doing, they acquire in-depth knowledge and develop understanding across a broad and balanced range of disciplines. Communicators They understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively in more than one language and in a variety of modes of communication. They work effectively and willingly in collaboration with others. Wahai orang-orang yang beriman! Bertakwalah kamu kepada Allah ucapkanlah perkataan yang benar
QS. Al Ahzab (33) : 70
Principled They act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness, justice and respect for the dignity of the individual, groups and communities. They take responsibility for their own actions and the consequences that accompany them. Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang berkata, "Tuhan kami adalah Allah" kemudian mereka meneguhkan pendirian mereka, maka malaikat-malaikat akan turun kepada mereka (dengan berkata), "Janganlah kamu merasa takut dan janganlah kamu bersedih hati; dan bergembiralah kamu dengan (memperoleh) surga yang telah dijanjikan kepadamu."

Open-minded They understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. They are accustomed to seeking and evaluating a range of points of view, and are willing to grow from the experience. Dan katakanlah (Muhammad), "Kebenaran itu datangnya dari Tuhanmu; barangsiapa menghendaki (beriman) hendaklah dia beriman; dan barangsiapa menghendaki (kafir) biarlah dia kafir."
QS. Al Kahfi (18) : 29
Caring They show empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. They have a personal commitment to service, and act to make a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment. Dan janganlah kamu berbuat kerusakan di bumi setelah (diciptakan) dengan baik. Berdoalah kepada-Nya dengan rasa takut dan penuh harap. Sesungguhnya rahmat Allah sangat dekat kepada orang yang berbuat kebaikan.
QS. Al A'raf (7) : 56
Risk-takers They approach unfamiliar situations and uncertainty with courage and forethought, and have the independence of spirit to explore new roles, ideas and strategies. They are brave and articulate in defending their beliefs. Dan kami ilhamkan kepada ibunya Musa, " Susuilah dia (Musa), dan apabila engkau khawatir terhadapnya maka hanyutkanlah dia ke sungai (Nil). Dan janganlah engkau takut dan jangan (pula) bersedih hati, sesungguhnya Kami akan mengembalikannya kepadamu, dan menjadikannya salah seorang rasul."

Balanced They understand the importance of intellectual, physical and emotional balance to achieve personal well-being for themselves and others. Dan carilah (pahala) negeri akhirat dengan apa yang telah dianugerahkan Allah kepadamu, tetapi janganlah kamu lupakan bagianmu di dunia dan berbuatbaiklah (kepada orang lain) sebagaimana Allah telah berbuat baik kepadamu, dan janganlah kamu berbuat kerusakan di bumi. Sesungguhnya Allah tidak menyukai oran yang berbuat kerusakan.
QS. Al Qashash (28) : 77
Reflective They give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and experience. They are able to assess and understand their strengths and limitations in order to support their learning and personal development. Wahai orang-orang yang beriman! Bertakwalah kepada Allah dan hendaklah setiap orang memperhatikan apa yang telah diperbuatnya untuk hari esok, dan bertakwalah kepada Allah. Sungguh, Allah Maha Mengetahui terhadap apa yang kamu kerjakan
QS. Al Hasyr (59) : 18

Every Friday, students will receive an IB Learner Profile certificate who demonstrate traits from a designated profile that can inspire, motivate and focus the work of learning community, uniting them in a common purpose.
